Jelly Roll Rug

Join Linda Kay in the classroom to create your own Jelly Roll Rug!

This fun project requires the following:

  • Large spool of thread (at least 1200 yds. of  50wt. thread, recommended Aurifil or MasterPiece) to blend or contrast & at least 4 pre-wound bobbins

  • 1 Jelly Roll (42 – 2½” strips) or cut your own strips 42 (2½” x WOF)

  • 17 Strips of 100% cotton batting cut 2 1/4in wide (1¼ yards x 96”) or purchase 1 packages Pre-cut batting strips.
    (Precut batting packages available)

  • 1 pkg. Batting Seam Tape (if using batting strips)

  • Jelly Roll Rug pattern Round or Oval

Pre-Class Preparation:

Piece the Jelly Roll strips end to end by mitering the ends. When you trim these mitered ends, it will take off the selvages. Press open. Your strip will be approximately 50 yards long. Fan fold your strips to bring to class.

A box, basket or bin to put your Jelly Roll strip ball in after you sew the strips & batting together. This should be about 10 – 12” in diameter.
