About Sherry Herringshaw
A former high school math teacher, Sherry Herringshaw's love of precision can be seen in her colorful miniature quilts. Her quilts have been featured in Miniature Quilt Magazine (no longer published), from the front cover to a special "Meet the Quilter" article. In addition, Sherry is known for her intricate piecing designs in bed size quilts. She has won several awards at the Gulf States Quilting Association's (GSQA) biannual quilt show.
Many of her classes focus on basic techniques that provide beginners with a good solid foundation. Classes include a series on miniatures, paper piecing, Angle Play design series (using Margaret Miller’s templates) and Marti Michell’s Kaleidoscope. She offers various project classes on miniatures, paper pieced wall hangings, lap size and bed size quilts. Starting in 2010, she will be offering demos providing an introduction to Electric Quilt software, and begin teaching the essentials in a series of classes where students will be required to bring a laptop to class.
She is actively involved in several local guilds and has membership in national quilt associations. Sherry is a GSQA circuit teacher, but is also available to quilt guilds and quilt shops on an as needed basis. She publishes a line of patterns, Lagniappe Quilt Designs, based on her own designs.
